The One Number High Performers Never Track

Oct 19, 2026 · @YourDay Balance Game

In decades of working with high performers, I have noticed something strange. Executives, founders, operators, people who have built something real. They track everything. Revenue, pipeline, close rates, headcount, burn. Many of them now track their sleep, their steps, their heart rate variability. They know their numbers cold.

And almost none of them can tell me the one number that actually predicts whether they will still be standing in five years.

It is not on any dashboard they check. It is not in their calendar or their bank account. But it is the number that decides whether everything else holds.

What your usual metrics miss

Here is the problem with the numbers most people track. They measure output. What you produced. What you closed, shipped, hit. They are a record of performance.

None of them measure capacity: the fuel you have left to keep producing it.

For a while, that gap does not matter. You can run on reserves. Performance outruns capacity and the results keep coming, so no one, including you, sees the cost accumulating underneath. Then one of two doors opens. The first is burnout, the wall you hit when the reserves finally run out. The second is quieter, and for a lot of people harder: you reach the peak you were chasing, look around, and think, is this it?

Both doors come from the same place. Output got measured for years. Capacity never did.

The one number: your PC Score

At YDBG we measure the thing the dashboards skip. We call it the PC Score. PC stands for Principle-Centered, and the score is a single number out of 100 that tells you where your capacity actually stands, right now.

It is built from three dimensions, weighted by how much each one drives the others:

  • Fitness, 20 percent. The body you perform from.
  • Lifestyle, 30 percent. How you structure your days, your energy, your environment.
  • Consciousness, 50 percent. The inner game. How you think, decide, and relate to your own life.

Consciousness carries half the score on purpose. You can be physically fit and well organized and still be running on a story that is quietly costing you everything. The inner game sets the ceiling for the other two. Most performance advice spends ninety percent of its attention on the twenty percent that is easiest to see.

Evidence, not intention

Here is what makes a score different from a resolution. A score is built on evidence.

Most people navigate their own lives on intention. I will slow down. I will get back to the gym. I will be more present. Intentions feel like progress and produce none, because nothing is logged and nothing is measured. There is no way to know whether you are aligned with what you say matters, or drifting from it.

A PC Score replaces the guessing with evidence. It reflects what you have actually done, consistently, over time. That is also where self-trust comes from. Self-trust is not a feeling you talk yourself into. It is the track record you build when your actions and your words line up, logged where you can see it.

What changes when you can see the number

You manage what you measure. The moment capacity becomes a number, a vague sense that something is off becomes specific. You can see which dimension is carrying you and which one is quietly dragging. You can watch it move.

The score is not a verdict. Within each dimension you move through Performance Capacity levels, from Beginner to Intermediate, Advanced, Professional, and All-Star. The point is not to be perfect. The point is to know where you stand and to move, deliberately, from there.

That is the difference between another optimization program and a measurement system. One hands you more things to do. The other shows you what is actually true, so the things you choose to do are the ones that matter.

Where to start

You do not need another routine or another challenge. You need a baseline. You cannot manage, rebuild, or protect a number you have never measured.

So measure it. Take the Pre-PC Assessment and see where you actually stand.
